everyone shut up it's my turn to talk

lucky's fixation goes wheeeee weeeeee wahooo N-E-WAY.

when i say the galarian birds, i'm specifically talking abt galarian zapdos, articuno, and moltres. the uhhh pseudolegendary guys that show up in galar every now and again. i think they're fascinating, and no one talks about them, so here i am. talking abt them.

one time i tried telling someone abt these guys and they called me a bird brain. i wanted to punch them so bad

ANYWAY. you guys can't respond so u can't call me a bird brain so i'm going to talk as much as i want

the galarian birds are migratory birds, based off what we know abt them. they spend the winter months throughout galar (supposedly. again, we don't know much abt them. they're like cryptids.) before reconvening in the summer to the crown tundra for a short period of time- specifically around the big ol' tree down south. we can infer that they have SOME kind of connection to each other from this, but they're not exactly friendly to one another. they more like...tolerate the others' presences? there's been reports of the birds snapping at and nearly fighting each other before backing off. wild.

so the big copperajah in the room is the fact that their names and appearance are incredibly similar to the legendary birds from the kanto region. obviously i know they were named AFTER those birds, but still. the appearance. this brings up an interesting question. are these guys related?

the most common theory is that this is an example of convergent evolution. u see it most often in the paldea region (apparently? accroding to gill? wild shit) that some pokemon may look really really really similar to others, to the point of being mistaken as regional variants, but are actually completely seperate species that just evolved to look like each other. kinda like the whole skrelp isn't a horsea type thing. they're similar, but not related. anyway that's what some people sya the galarian birds are- convergent legendaries.

which yeah makes sense but like. u gotta admit it's a liiiiitttle suspicious. like i'd get it if it was just one pokemon, but it's all three birds. all three of them are eeriely similar. like how does that happen? they couldn't have evolved like that without influence.

well. we might actually have the answer to that. mwahahaha. etc.

in the crown tundra there's this massive fuckoff cave system called the max lair. it's teeming with dynamax energy and dynamax pokemon. it's also been known to attract legendary pokemon. something abt the energy kinda acting like nectar to these big beasts, they get drawn into the lair and hang out. cause a nuisance. drive up the popularity of the tourist attraction. the whole nine yards.

this has been going on for centuriesssss now. and guess who's also drawn to the caves? that's right it's the legendary birds let's GOOOOOO

my theory. is that hundreds of years ago. (idk how long the birds live probably forever) articuno, zapdos, and moltres came to visit the max lair. imparted evolutionary wisdom onto some locals (like they bred?? possibly??? again this is like a tinfoil hat theory stay with me) and then the galarian legendary birds were born.

the longer you stare at this theory the more holes you can poke through it though. like what abt the typings???? galarian moltres isn't fire, g zapdos isn't electric, g articuno isn't ice, w/e. they have traits that can be DESCRIBED as those things, but they aren't.

this is why i go crazy about them!!! because there's so many unanswered questions about them!!! for like twenty years tehy were treated as some kinda myth or cryptid and now we have proof of their existsence!!! more and more there's reports of zapdos attacking trucks and equipment in the wild area or moltres chasing people on the isle of armor- which like yeah sucks for the cars and the people but like THEY DIDN'T DO THIS TWENTY YEARS AGO!!! THEY'RE GETTING MORE SOCIAL!!! SOMETHING HAS CHANGED ABT THEM. SOMETHING HAS CHANGED. we gotta study this if we want more info abt them but most of the people interested in them are relegated to cryptozoology or forum boards.
